Assembly Instructions
As a result of several enquiries, we are please to supply the following useful cable/plug assembly instructions

Straight instrument plugs
• Cut the cable cleanly, straight across, using a very sharp knife or sharp-bladed cutters. Ensure that the conductors have not “smeared” across the cut end of the cable as this will cause a short circuit.

• DO NOT strip the cable!

• If you are fitting a strain-relief jacket, slide this over the cut end of the cable.

• Back out the screw in the side of the plug far enough to allow the cable end to push in easily then apply pressure until the cable bottoms out in the plug body.

• Turn the plug side screw until it is finger-tight against the cable then tighten it 1½ to 2 turns further.

• Push the strain-relief jacket (if fitted) along the cable and in to place on the plug body.

Right Angle Instrument Plugs
• Prepare the cable the same way as for the straight instrument plug.

• Remove the screw cap from the plug body.

• Push the cable end into the plug body then apply pressure until it bottoms out.

• Using your thumb, bend the cable over into the slot just far enough to allow the screw cap threads to engage. Release your thumb completely from the cable and continue to turn the screw cap until it bottoms out.

  Straight speaker plugs
• Cut the cable end squarely then cut the ribbed side of the cable back so it is ½” shorter than the smooth side.

• DO NOT strip the cable!

• The ribbed side of the cable must line up with the screw in the plug side.

• Back out the screw in the side of the plug far enough to allow the cable end to push in easily – the smooth conductor has to pass into the small hole down inside the plug body - then apply pressure until the cable bottoms out in the plug body.

• Turn the plug side screw until it is finger-tight against the cable then tighten it 1½ to 2 turns further.

• Using your thumb, bend the cable over into the slot just far enough to allow the screw cap threads to engage. The ribbed side of the cable must be uppermost. Release your thumb completely from the cable and continue to turn the screw cap until it bottoms out.

  • Always test cables with a multimeter or cable tester and repair any bad connections or short circuits before putting them into service!
