Straight
instrument plugs
•
Cut the cable cleanly, straight across, using a very sharp knife
or sharp-bladed cutters. Ensure that the conductors have not “smeared”
across the cut end of the cable as this will cause a short circuit.
• DO NOT strip the cable!
• If you are fitting a strain-relief
jacket, slide this over the cut end of the cable.
• Back out the screw in the side
of the plug far enough to allow the cable end to push in easily
then apply pressure until the cable bottoms out in the plug body.
• Turn the plug side screw until
it is finger-tight against the cable then tighten it 1½ to
2 turns further.
• Push the strain-relief jacket
(if fitted) along the cable and in to place on the plug body.
